Our buying view

Choose the Plus if the complete setup stretches your budget. Consider the Pro if higher front-camera resolution is worth the extra cost to you.

Start with your total budget.

Set aside money for installation and storage before choosing the camera. A more expensive unit is not the better purchase if it leaves the rear camera uninstalled or the memory card unsuitable.

Those specifications are not a promise of readable license plates. Speed, distance, lighting, windshield reflections and camera positioning can affect a recording. We have not tested these cameras or measured their plate-reading performance.

Plan the route from front to rear.

Before ordering, identify where each camera would sit and how the cable could reach the rear window. Check your vehicle manual and avoid routing across airbags or interfering with the driver’s view. If you are unsure about trim removal or wiring, get an installer’s quote first.

Compare the exact two-channel listings and included cable lengths. Do not assume a bundle pictured elsewhere matches the Amazon item you are buying.

Choose a card for repeated recording.

Check the manufacturer’s current compatible-card guidance and capacity limit for your exact model. Budget for a recording-suitable microSD card if one is not included. Recording time depends on capacity and recording settings; we do not estimate hours from resolution alone.

Make a routine for checking that recording works and saving important clips before loop recording can overwrite them.

Parking monitoring needs its own budget.

VIOFO lists event detection, time-lapse and low-bitrate parking modes. Its USB-C HK4 hardwire kit is compatible with both models; check the current model-specific requirements and bundle contents before purchase. VIOFO parking and accessory information (opens in a new tab)

  • Allow for a compatible hardwire kit if you want parking recording.
  • Check whether the right fuse taps are included or cost extra.
  • Include fitting labor if you will not install the wiring yourself.
  • Ask about battery protection and the trade-off between recording duration and battery use.

A camera’s parking features do not guarantee uninterrupted coverage. Decide whether parking recording is essential before spending more on the front-camera specification.
